The Bluetooth Personal Area Network driver enables Windows to use a compatible Bluetooth connection for network access rather than just audio or file transfers. With the correct driver installed, your PC can join a supported Bluetooth PAN, such as a phone’s tethered internet connection, when the other device offers that feature.

Key Features

  • Bluetooth networking support: Allows Windows to recognize and use the Bluetooth Personal Area Network interface as a network adapter.
  • Internet connection sharing: Supports network access through a paired device with Bluetooth tethering enabled, subject to that device’s capabilities and service settings.
  • Windows network integration: Makes the PAN connection available through Windows networking controls for checking connection status and troubleshooting.
  • Compatible driver options: Driver packages are available for supported configurations running Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7. Select the version that matches your Bluetooth hardware, operating system, and system architecture.

How to Install

  1. Check your system details. Confirm your Windows version and whether your system uses a 32-bit or 64-bit architecture. Open Device Manager to identify the Bluetooth hardware and check for warning icons under Bluetooth or Network adapters.
  1. Choose the matching package. Download the appropriate Bluetooth Personal Area Network driver supplied by the manufacturer for your hardware and Windows version. Some systems include PAN support within the main Bluetooth driver package rather than as a separate download.
  1. Install the driver. If the package includes an installer, run it and follow the prompts. For extracted driver files, right-click the relevant adapter in Device Manager, select Update driver, then choose Browse my computer for drivers and point Windows to the extracted folder.
  1. Restart and pair your devices. Restart the computer if prompted, turn on Bluetooth, and pair it with the device you want to use for network access. Enable Bluetooth tethering or PAN sharing on that device if supported.
  1. Test the connection. Use the Bluetooth device options available in your Windows version to connect through the paired device’s network service. If network access fails, verify that tethering is enabled and the sharing device has an active internet connection.

Installing the driver alone does not provide internet access: both devices must support the required Bluetooth networking role, and connection-sharing settings must be configured correctly.

Common Issues and Fixes

  • Driver install fails or rolls back: Stop the Bluetooth Support Service, disconnect other Bluetooth devices, and run the installer as administrator. If setup conflicts with an existing Bluetooth stack, remove the old PAN/Bluetooth driver in Device Manager, check “Delete the driver software,” and reboot before reinstalling.
  • Bluetooth Personal Area Network device not detected: Confirm Bluetooth is enabled and the PC is discoverable, then pair the device again. In Device Manager, scan for hardware changes; if the PAN adapter shows a warning, update the Bluetooth radio firmware/driver from the manufacturer and restart.
  • Version conflicts or PAN connection drops: Match the driver to your Windows build and Bluetooth hardware ID. Uninstall duplicate Bluetooth/PAN entries, avoid mixing vendor and Windows generic drivers, then reinstall the manufacturer package and recreate the PAN connection.
