The ATI Remote Wonder driver enables Windows to communicate with ATI’s wireless remote control and its USB receiver. With a compatible driver and control software installed, you can use the remote to navigate supported media applications, adjust playback, and perform selected desktop actions without reaching for a keyboard or mouse.
Key Features
- USB receiver recognition: Helps Windows identify the Remote Wonder receiver so it can receive commands from the paired remote.
- Media playback controls: Enables functions such as play, pause, volume adjustment, and track navigation in compatible applications.
- Desktop navigation: Supports the remote’s pointer and navigation controls for convenient on-screen interaction.
- Configurable buttons: Compatible ATI control software may let you assign actions to programmable buttons or use application-specific plug-ins.
How to Install
- Check your device and Windows version. Confirm that you have the original ATI Remote Wonder rather than a different Remote Wonder model. Check whether your Windows installation is 32-bit or 64-bit before selecting a package.
- Verify compatibility before downloading. If you use Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7, review the package’s supported operating systems carefully. This is legacy hardware, and official driver support for newer Windows versions may be unavailable. A download listing alone does not guarantee compatibility.
- Prepare the receiver and software. Close media applications and uninstall any conflicting Remote Wonder software if necessary. Follow the package instructions about whether to disconnect the USB receiver before setup.
- Run the installer. Extract the download if required, then launch the setup program with administrator permission. Install any included remote-control software and connect the receiver when prompted. Avoid disabling Windows security protections to force an unsupported driver to load.
- Restart and test the remote. Restart Windows if requested, check that the receiver appears without an error in Device Manager, and test basic navigation or playback in a supported application. If buttons do not respond, check the batteries, receiver connection, and software settings.
Although ATI is associated with graphics hardware, the Remote Wonder is a remote-control accessory—not a GPU. It needs its own compatible driver and software; installing an ATI graphics driver alone will not enable it.
Common Issues and Fixes
- Installer fails or rolls back: Run the ATI Remote Wonder setup as administrator in Windows XP/Vista compatibility mode, close AMD/ATI and Media Center background apps, and temporarily disable antivirus. For unsigned legacy drivers on modern Windows, use a signed package or temporarily disable driver signature enforcement.
- Receiver not detected: Plug the USB RF receiver directly into a rear USB 2.0 port, not a hub. Check Device Manager for an unknown USB device or yellow warning, remove the entry, reboot, and reinstall the Remote Wonder driver.
- Version conflicts: Uninstall older ATI Remote Wonder, Remote Wonder Plus/II, and AMD/ATI remote utilities. Remove hidden devices in Device Manager, reboot, then install only the driver package matching your exact remote model and Windows version.
