Question 1

Driver install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall any existing ZTE USB modem driver and related COM-port entries in Device Manager, reboot, then run the installer as administrator. Confirm you downloaded the correct 32-bit/64-bit package for Windows.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check Device Manager under Modems or Ports (COM & LPT). Try a rear USB port and a known-good cable. If the modem appears only as storage/CD-ROM, it may be in install/storage mode—replug it and let the ZTE mode-switch driver load.

Question 3

Version conflicts / wrong COM port?

Accepted Answer

Older ZTE modem drivers can leave stale COM ports or duplicate modem entries. Remove all ZTE Handset USB Modem devices and driver software, then reinstall the latest package and reboot before reconnecting.
