Name: ZTE CDMA Handset USB Modem Proprietary Driver
Author: ZTE

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the ZTE installer as administrator. If Windows blocks it, check Device Manager for a Code 52/signature error and temporarily disable driver signature enforcement, then reinstall the matching ZTE CDMA package.

Question 2

Modem not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the handset is in USB modem mode, not charge-only/storage. Try another USB port and cable, then check Device Manager for an unknown “ZTE CDMA Handset” or composite device; update that entry manually using the downloaded INF.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall any existing ZTE modem driver and remove leftover entries via Device Manager (“Uninstall device” with software). Reboot before installing the new proprietary driver to avoid Windows loading an older generic modem driver.
