Question 1

Driver installation fails?

Accepted Answer

Download the correct 32/64-bit Zebra GC420d Windows driver and run the installer as administrator. Close other Zebra setup tools, disconnect the printer until prompted, and allow any driver-signing prompt.

Question 2

Printer not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the GC420d is powered on, use a known-good USB cable/port (or correct serial/parallel port), and check Device Manager for unknown devices. If needed, update the driver manually via “Have Disk” and point to the extracted INF file.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove old Zebra printer queues and drivers in Print Management, reboot, then install the latest GC420d driver. Do not mix older ZDesigner packages with the new driver.
