Name: Yamaha AW744 YAMAHA DS XG PCI Audio CODEC WDM Driver
Author: Yamaha

Question 1

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

The AW744 uses a legacy Yamaha DS-XG WDM package. Install it only on supported Windows versions; on newer Windows, unsigned/legacy WDM drivers may be rejected. Remove any previous Yamaha DS-XG driver, reboot, then run the AW744 package as administrator.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check Device Manager for an unknown “Multimedia Audio Controller.” Reseat the PCI card, try another PCI slot, disable onboard audio in BIOS, and verify PCI IRQ assignment. The card must appear before the WDM driver can bind.

Question 3

Version/resource conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Mixing generic Microsoft audio drivers with Yamaha DS-XG packages can cause code 10/12 errors or crackling. Uninstall old DS-XG entries, reboot, and install the exact AW744-matched driver; avoid IRQ sharing with network or storage controllers if possible.
