Name: WinTV HVR 850 Driver
Author: Hauppauge

Question 1

Installer fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run setup as administrator, pause antivirus temporarily, and unplug the WinTV HVR 850 until the installer prompts for it. Remove any older WinTV package and reboot before retrying.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Connect the HVR 850 directly to a rear USB 2.0 port, not a hub or front-panel port. Use Device Manager to scan for hardware changes; if an unknown USB device appears, reinstall the driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall previous WinTV/Hauppauge drivers and software first, reboot, then install the package matching your Windows version and architecture. Avoid mixing Media Center, WinTV, and third-party tuner drivers.
