Name: Winbond Fast Infrared Controller DMA Driver
Author: WinBond

Question 1

Install fails or driver is blocked?

Accepted Answer

The Winbond Fast Infrared Controller DMA driver is legacy and may be unsigned or incompatible with newer Windows. Install it in compatibility mode for the target Windows version and confirm the driver package matches your hardware ID.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check that infrared is enabled in BIOS/UEFI and that the IR port is not disabled. In Device Manager, look for unknown serial/IR devices or resource conflicts involving the DMA channel or COM/I/O port; reassign or free the conflicting resource.

Question 3

Version conflicts or Code 10/28?

Accepted Answer

Remove any existing Microsoft IR stack or third-party FIR driver, then reinstall the Winbond package. Avoid mixing INF versions; use the newest compatible Winbond Fast Infrared Controller DMA driver and reboot before testing IR transfer.
