Question 1

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the SATA data and power cables, try another SATA port, and confirm the WD5000BEVT appears in BIOS. If it shows in Disk Management but not File Explorer, initialize/assign a drive letter.

Question 2

Install or driver failure?

Accepted Answer

This 2.5-inch SATA HDD normally uses Windows’ built-in Standard SATA AHCI Controller. Avoid forcing older WD ATA drivers; if AHCI/IDE mode was changed, install the correct storage-controller driver first.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove third-party HDD utilities or mismatched WD drivers, then rescan in Device Manager. Do not run a firmware updater unless the model and firmware version match exactly; check SMART if errors persist.
