Question 1

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Reseat the SATA data and power cables, try another SATA port, and confirm the WD7500BPVT appears in BIOS/UEFI. Check Disk Management for an uninitialized disk; avoid USB adapters that do not support 2.5-inch SATA drives.

Question 2

Install or format fails?

Accepted Answer

Initialize the drive as MBR or GPT to match your system, then create and format a volume in Disk Management. Run a SMART check; if bad sectors or clicking are present, replace the drive.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

This WD7500BPVT uses standard SATA/AHCI drivers—no WD-specific driver is required. Use Windows’ AHCI/STORAHCI driver; if a SATA controller update breaks detection, roll it back in Device Manager and ensure BIOS SATA mode matches the installed OS.
