Question 1

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check SATA data and power cables, try another SATA port, and verify the port is enabled in BIOS/UEFI. The WD5000AADS has no standalone Windows driver; it uses the motherboard’s AHCI/SATA controller.

Question 2

Install or boot fails?

Accepted Answer

Keep the SATA mode consistent—AHCI or IDE/legacy—in BIOS and Windows. Changing it after installation can cause boot errors. If Windows Setup cannot see the disk, load the correct Intel/AMD SATA controller driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts or unstable detection?

Accepted Answer

Remove or update old Intel RST/AMD SATA drivers and test with Windows’ inbox AHCI driver first. If Disk Management shows the drive as unknown/unallocated, initialize and partition it.
