Question 1

Install fails or BIOS doesn’t see the drive?

Accepted Answer

Reseat the SATA data and power cables, try another SATA port, and confirm BIOS/UEFI SATA mode (AHCI/RAID) matches the Windows installer. Load the motherboard chipset/AHCI driver if Setup still reports no disk.

Question 2

Device not detected in Windows?

Accepted Answer

Check Disk Management for an offline or uninitialized WD3200D032. Initialize/assign a letter only after backing up. Test the cable/port or another PC. This SATA HDD uses standard storage drivers—no WD-specific driver is normally required.

Question 3

Version conflicts, BSODs, or dropouts?

Accepted Answer

Remove conflicting Intel RST/AMD RAID or old SATA drivers, install the latest motherboard chipset/AHCI package for your Windows version, and keep AHCI/RAID mode consistent. Check SMART health for a failing drive.
