Question 1

Install fails or “no compatible hardware” appears?

Accepted Answer

The WD1600AAJS is a SATA hard drive and normally uses Windows’ native AHCI/SATA driver, not a WD device driver. Check BIOS SATA mode (AHCI/IDE) and install the motherboard/chipset SATA driver instead.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Reseat the SATA data and power cables, try a different SATA port, and confirm the WD1600AAJS appears in BIOS/UEFI. If it is missing there, test the cable, port, or drive.

Question 3

Version conflicts or boot errors after storage-driver updates?

Accepted Answer

Roll back the Intel RST/AMD SATA or Windows storage controller driver to the prior version. Avoid mixing older controller drivers with a new Windows build.
