Question 1

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

The WD10EZEX is a standard SATA HDD and does not use a standalone Western Digital driver. Install/update the motherboard chipset or AHCI/SATA controller driver instead; avoid third-party driver updaters.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check both SATA data and power cables, try another SATA port, and confirm the drive appears in BIOS/UEFI. In Windows, open Disk Management to initialize or assign a drive letter if the disk is visible but unlettered.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Old Intel RST or AMD SATA drivers can conflict with Windows’ AHCI driver. Roll back or remove the conflicting package, then use the Microsoft Standard SATA AHCI Controller or the correct chipset driver for your board.
