Question 1

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

Run the manufacturer’s installer as administrator and allow unsigned/virtual COM drivers if Windows prompts. If setup still fails, disconnect the CTG 2, reboot, then reinstall before reconnecting the USB cable.

Question 2

Device not detected / COM3 missing?

Accepted Answer

Check the USB cable and port, confirm the CTG 2 is powered, and open Device Manager. If no virtual COM port appears, rescan hardware or try another USB port; then verify the programming software is set to COM3.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Viking or USB-serial drivers first, reboot, and install only the manufacturer’s current CTG 2 driver. If COM3 is assigned to another device, change the port assignment and restart the programming software.
