Question 1

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Plug the adapter directly into a rear USB 2.0/1.1 port, not a hub. In Device Manager, remove any “Unknown USB Device,” then scan for hardware changes. Confirm the adapter’s LED and try another cable/port.

Question 2

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

Run the installer as administrator. If Windows blocks the legacy Viewcon driver, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement or use Device Manager > Update driver > Browse > Let me pick > Have Disk and select the downloaded INF.

Question 3

Version conflicts/no link?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older USB Ethernet/ASIX/CDC drivers and remove hidden devices. Reboot, reinstall the Viewcon driver, then set the adapter to DHCP or a static IP. Avoid installing two USB Ethernet driver packages at once.
