Question 1

Driver install fails or is blocked?

Accepted Answer

Run the manufacturer’s installer as administrator and use the current signed Windows driver. Reconnect the VIATOR USB HART Interface after installation if instructed. Check Device Manager for an unknown device or unsigned-driver/Code 52 warning.

Question 2

Interface not detected / no COM port?

Accepted Answer

Try another USB port and cable, confirm the unit appears under Ports (COM & LPT), and select that COM port in your HART software. If it appears but HART devices don’t respond, check loop wiring, polarity, and power.

Question 3

Version conflicts after upgrading?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall old VIATOR/USB-serial drivers and HART software, remove unused COM ports, reboot, then install the latest manufacturer package. Avoid mixing drivers from other HART modems; verify the COM port and driver version in Device Manager.
