Name: UTAX LP 3228 LP 4228 KX Driver
Author: UTAX

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the USB cable, remove any existing UTAX LP 3228/LP 4228 KX printer queue and driver package via Print Management, reboot, then run the installer as administrator. Reconnect USB only when prompted.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the printer is powered and ready, use a direct rear USB port and a known-good cable (avoid hubs), and restart the Print Spooler service. For network-connected units, verify the IP address and subnet.

Question 3

Driver version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older UTAX/KX drivers and status utilities before installing the new package. Delete leftover queues, match the driver to Windows architecture (32/64-bit), and use the LP 3228/4228 KX package rather than a generic PCL/PS driver.
