Question 1

Install fails or COM7 is missing?

Accepted Answer

Run the manufacturer’s installer as administrator and use the signed driver version for your Windows release. Reboot, then check Device Manager under Ports (COM & LPT) for the ABACUS Optical Probe or a yellow warning icon.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Try a different USB port and cable, and avoid unpowered hubs. Confirm the probe is connected and powered, then use Scan for hardware changes in Device Manager. If it appears as an unknown device, update the driver manually.

Question 3

COM7 conflict or driver version mismatch?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall the device and delete its old driver software, including hidden serial ports. Reinstall the current vendor driver, then reassign COM7 in Port Settings if another device is using it. Ensure your application is set to COM7 with the correct serial settings.
