Author: UMAX

Question 1

Install fails on modern Windows?

Accepted Answer

The Astra 2000P uses legacy parallel-port drivers. Run the installer as administrator in Compatibility Mode for the Windows version it targets, or use a supported 32-bit Windows VM. Disable driver signature enforcement only if the package is known-good.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the scanner is powered on and unlocked, use a known-good LPT cable, and set the BIOS parallel port to EPP/ECP. Avoid USB-to-parallel adapters unless the driver explicitly supports them.

Question 3

Version/TWAIN conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older UMAX Astra drivers and scanner utilities first, reboot, then install one driver package. In the scanning app, select the correct UMAX TWAIN source and avoid mixing 32-bit and 64-bit drivers.
