Question 1

Drive not detected or missing from This PC?

Accepted Answer

Check the SATA/power cable and confirm BIOS detects the TSST optical drive. In Device Manager, scan for hardware changes. If error code 10/19/39 appears, back up the registry, then remove UpperFilters/LowerFilters CD/DVD entries and reboot.

Question 2

Driver install fails or yellow warning icon?

Accepted Answer

This ATA CD/DVD drive normally uses Windows’ built-in driver. Avoid third-party driver updaters. Uninstall the device in Device Manager, delete the driver if offered, restart, and let Windows reinstall it. Update motherboard chipset/SATA drivers if detection still fails.

Question 3

Version conflicts after Windows Update?

Accepted Answer

If the drive worked before an update, use Device Manager > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver, or uninstall and reboot. Prefer Microsoft’s inbox driver over bundled OEM packages; check TSST firmware only if the issue persists.
