Question 1

Drive not detected in Device Manager or BIOS?

Accepted Answer

Check the SATA data and power cables first, and try another SATA port. If the SH-S222A appears with a warning icon, uninstall the device in Device Manager and rescan for hardware changes.

Question 2

Driver install fails or Windows uses a generic driver?

Accepted Answer

This optical drive typically relies on Windows' built-in CD/DVD driver, so a vendor package may be unnecessary or incompatible. Run the installer as administrator, or roll back to the Microsoft driver via Device Manager > Update Driver > Browse > Let me pick.

Question 3

Version conflicts or drive disappears after updates?

Accepted Answer

Remove leftover TSST/Roxio burning software entries, then reinstall the latest package matching your Windows version and architecture (32/64-bit). Avoid mixing drivers from other TSST models.
