Question 1

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the SATA data and power cables, try another SATA port, and confirm the BIOS/UEFI sees the SH-S203N. In Windows, open Device Manager and scan for hardware changes; if BIOS does not list it, the issue is cabling, port, or drive hardware rather than a driver.

Question 2

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

Windows normally uses the built-in optical drive driver, so avoid generic driver-updater tools. If installation fails with Code 28 or 19, uninstall the device in Device Manager, restart, and let Windows reinstall it.

Question 3

Version conflicts or error codes?

Accepted Answer

Remove any old/duplicate ATAPI/optical driver entries, reboot, and check Windows Update optional drivers. If Code 39/19 persists, clear stale UpperFilters/LowerFilters only after backing up the registry.
