Question 1

Install fails or is blocked?

Accepted Answer

These are legacy drivers; use the package matching the OS (Windows 3.x/9x/NT) and install via Device Manager/“Have Disk” or the original setup. On 64-bit or modern Windows the 16-bit/unsigned INF will not load—use a supported legacy system or virtual machine.

Question 2

Card not detected?

Accepted Answer

ET4000 ISA/VLB cards are non-PnP. Reseat the card, confirm the slot type/jumpers, disable onboard video, and set the BIOS primary display to VGA/ISA/VLB. Check that the installed driver matches the exact ET4000 variant (plain ET4000 vs W32/W32i).

Question 3

Version/mode conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove other Tseng/display drivers, boot into VGA mode, then reinstall the correct driver. Match the card’s memory size and monitor refresh; wrong settings cause blank screens or corrupted modes.
