Name: TSST CD ROM TS L162C ATA Device Driver
Author: TSST

Question 1

Install fails or device shows Code 10/Code 28?

Accepted Answer

Windows already supplies the native CD/DVD-ROM driver for the TSST TS-L162C. Remove any downloaded “driver” package, uninstall the device in Device Manager, reboot, and let Windows reinstall the built-in optical driver.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the SATA/IDE cable and power connection, confirm the port is enabled in BIOS/UEFI, then use Device Manager > Action > Scan for hardware changes. Verify the BIOS SATA/ATA mode matches the original configuration.

Question 3

Version conflicts or drive disappears after an update?

Accepted Answer

Roll back the driver in Device Manager or uninstall recent IDE/SATA/chipset updates. If the drive still does not appear, check for stale upper/lower filter entries.
