Name: TRENDnet TEW 649UB Driver
Author: TRENDnet

Question 1

Install fails or setup exits early?

Accepted Answer

Run the TRENDnet installer as administrator and use Windows compatibility mode for the supported OS. Disconnect the TEW-649UB until setup asks, and temporarily disable antivirus if it blocks the driver package.

Question 2

Adapter not detected?

Accepted Answer

Plug the TEW-649UB directly into a USB 2.0 port, not a hub or USB 3.0 port. In Device Manager, check for Unknown device/Network adapter, uninstall it, reboot, and rescan for hardware.

Question 3

Driver/utility version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove any existing TRENDnet utility, Realtek Wi-Fi driver, or Windows generic driver for the adapter, reboot, then install only the matching TEW-649UB package. Don’t mix a newer generic driver with the old TRENDnet utility.
