Name: ThinkPad Display 1680x1050 Driver
Author: IBM

Question 1

Install fails or setup exits early?

Accepted Answer

The IBM display INF may be unsigned or incompatible with newer Windows. Extract the package, open Device Manager, right-click the monitor/graphics device, choose Update driver > Browse, and point to the INF. Use compatibility mode only if needed.

Question 2

Device not detected / 1680x1050 missing?

Accepted Answer

Windows often falls back to “Generic PnP Monitor.” Install the correct ThinkPad graphics driver first, then the display INF, and reboot. Check Display settings > Advanced display to confirm the panel is recognized.

Question 3

Version conflicts or black screen after update?

Accepted Answer

Remove any older IBM/Lenovo monitor driver, roll back the graphics driver, then reinstall the matching display package. Avoid mixing generic Intel/Windows monitor drivers with the ThinkPad INF.
