Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the Tascam installer as Administrator and in compatibility mode for the supported Windows version. Leave the US-428 disconnected until setup prompts for it; if Windows blocks the legacy driver, use a supported OS or temporarily disable driver signature enforcement.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Connect the US-428 directly to a USB 1.1/2.0 port, not a hub. Try another USB cable, power-cycle the unit, then check Device Manager for an unknown device and reinstall the driver.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Tascam US-428 drivers and reboot before installing another version. Don’t stack multiple ASIO drivers for the same interface; match the driver to your Windows version.
