Question 1

Install fails or driver is rejected?

Accepted Answer

Use the Symbios 53C875/53C876 driver package matching Windows version and architecture; run setup as administrator. Do not force a 32-bit INF onto 64-bit Windows. If unsigned, use compatibility mode or a signed build.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the 875XS/D 2280X card is seated in a working PCI slot and appears in Device Manager (yellow ! or unknown SCSI controller). Rescan hardware; check SCSI IDs/termination and adapter BIOS if drives are missing.

Question 3

Version conflicts or duplicate adapters?

Accepted Answer

Remove old Symbios/LSI 53C875/53C876 entries and hidden devices, reboot, then install one driver package. Avoid mixing INF versions; on legacy systems check PCI IRQ/resource conflicts.
