Author: StarTech

Question 1

Install fails or Device Manager shows an unknown device?

Accepted Answer

Run the installer as administrator and install the StarTech/legacy IEEE 1394 OHCI driver manually via Device Manager. If Windows blocks it, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement, then reinstall.

Question 2

Card not detected?

Accepted Answer

Power off, reseat the PCI card firmly, and try another compatible PCI slot. Confirm the slot is enabled in BIOS/UEFI and that no onboard 1394 controller is conflicting.

Question 3

Version conflicts with existing FireWire drivers?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older IEEE 1394/1394b drivers and remove duplicate controllers in Device Manager, then reboot before installing the StarTech driver. Avoid mixing legacy and OEM 1394 driver packages.
