Name: STMicroelectronics Virtual COM Port Driver
Author: STMicroelectronics

Question 1

Install fails or driver won’t start (Code 10/52)?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall existing STMicroelectronics Virtual COM Port entries in Device Manager, enable “Show hidden devices,” reboot, then run the latest ST VCP installer as administrator. Ensure Windows driver signing policy is not blocking it.

Question 2

Device not detected / no COM port?

Accepted Answer

Use a known data-capable USB cable, connect directly to the PC, and check Device Manager under “Ports (COM & LPT)” or “Other devices.” If it appears as unknown, manually update the driver and point Windows to the installed ST VCP driver folder.

Question 3

Version conflicts or unstable COM port?

Accepted Answer

Remove older STM32 VCP/CDC driver packages, avoid installing multiple VCP versions, and reinstall one current STMicroelectronics VCP driver. If the COM number is already in use, reassign it in Port Settings.
