Question 1

Install fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Confirm you downloaded the 64-bit Star TVS MSP245 package, run the installer as administrator, and disconnect the printer until setup prompts. If Windows blocks the legacy driver, use the manufacturer’s signed release or documented signing steps.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check printer power and cable; connect USB directly rather than through a hub. For parallel/LPT, verify cable and port mode (ECP/EPP). In Printer Properties, select the correct port (USB001/LPT1) and restart the Print Spooler.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove old Star/TVS printer queues and drivers via Print Management > Drivers, restart Windows, then install only the 64-bit MSP245 driver. Avoid mixing with Windows generic dot-matrix drivers unless testing.
