Question 1

Driver install fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the TSP143, uninstall any older Star TSP100/futurePRNT driver and utility, reboot, then run the installer as administrator. Connect the USB cable only when prompted.

Question 2

Printer not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a direct USB port rather than a hub, confirm the printer is powered on, and check the selected port in Windows. For Ethernet models, verify the IP/port. Power-cycle the TSP143 and avoid generic USB printer ports.

Question 3

Version or port conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove stale TSP100 drivers and unused USB/COM ports in Print Management, restart the print spooler, and install the correct 32/64-bit Star driver. Set the TSP143 as default and run a self-test to confirm cutter operation.
