Name: SiS PCI IDE Controller Driver
Author: SiS

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

SiS IDE driver packages are often old or unsigned. Run setup as administrator in compatibility mode for the intended Windows version, or update manually via Device Manager > IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers > SiS PCI IDE Controller > Update driver > Browse.

Question 2

Controller not detected / yellow mark?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the IDE controller is enabled in BIOS and the SATA/IDE mode matches the installed driver. Reseat cables, then scan for hardware changes in Device Manager. Install the SiS chipset package first if the controller is still missing.

Question 3

Version conflicts / boot errors?

Accepted Answer

Roll back or remove conflicting storage drivers before installing, match the 32/64-bit OS, and avoid mixing generic and SiS drivers. If Windows won’t boot, use Safe Mode or System Restore; the inbox standard IDE driver may be safer.
