Name: SiS 7012 Audio Driver
Author: SiS

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the SiS 7012 setup as administrator in Compatibility Mode for the package’s target Windows version (often XP/Vista). If Windows blocks the legacy driver, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement. Confirm 32/64-bit matches.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Enable onboard/AC’97 audio in BIOS, then check Device Manager for unknown audio or hidden devices. Use “Scan for hardware changes”; install via Update Driver > Browse > “Sound, video and game controllers” > SiS 7012.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall any current audio driver and select “Delete the driver software,” reboot, then install the SiS package. Prevent Windows Update from replacing it with a generic/Realtek/C-Media driver by adjusting driver update policy or rolling back after an update.
