Name: SMC EZ Card 10 100 (SMC1244TX V2) Driver
Author: SMSC

Question 1

Installer fails or driver is unsigned?

Accepted Answer

On Windows 10/11, the legacy SMC1244TX V2 INF may be blocked. Run setup as administrator; if it still fails, use Device Manager → Update driver → Browse my computer → Let me pick → Have Disk and select the correct V2 INF. Do not force-install a V1 driver.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check Device Manager for an unknown Ethernet controller or yellow warning. Power off, reseat the PCI card, try another PCI slot, and confirm link LEDs. If nothing appears, the slot or card may be faulty.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall any existing SMC/SMSC Ethernet driver (Device Manager → Show hidden devices → Uninstall device, delete driver software), reboot, then install the SMC1244TX V2 package. Use Roll Back Driver if a Windows update replaces it.
