Question 1

Install fails or driver won’t load?

Accepted Answer

Run the SMC 1255TX installer as administrator. If it targets an older Windows version, use Compatibility Mode or manually update the driver in Device Manager by pointing to the extracted INF file.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Reseat the PCI card, try another PCI slot, and check Device Manager for an unknown network controller. Confirm PCI networking is enabled in BIOS and that the card is fully seated.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove old SMC/Ethernet drivers and hidden/ghost adapters, reboot, then install one driver package. If Windows Update replaces it, roll back to the SMC driver or set the correct version manually.
