Question 1

Install fails or hangs?

Accepted Answer

Run the SiS setup as administrator in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode. If Windows blocks the unsigned legacy driver, install manually via Device Manager → Update driver → browse to the extracted INF folder.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check that the SiS 315 card is firmly seated (AGP/PCI) and that BIOS primary graphics is set correctly. Install the motherboard chipset/AGP GART driver before the display driver; Device Manager may show “Video Controller (VGA Compatible)” until then.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove any existing SiS or generic VGA driver in Safe Mode using the SiS uninstaller or Device Manager, reboot, then install one SiS 315 package. Avoid mixing Windows Update drivers with the vendor package.
