Question 1

Install fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Run the Sharp installer as administrator, remove any previous Sharp AR/PCL driver, reboot, and temporarily disable antivirus. Confirm the package matches your Windows version and use the PCL 6 driver only.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

For USB, try another port/cable and avoid hubs. For network, verify the printer’s IP, ping it, and create a Standard TCP/IP port manually if auto-discovery fails.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall old Sharp PCL/PS drivers via Print Management, clear stuck print jobs, and restart the Print Spooler service before reinstalling the AR M420U PCL 6 driver.
