Author: Sharp

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the USB cable, run the Sharp setup as administrator, and use Windows compatibility mode for older packages. Temporarily disable antivirus and allow the signed/legacy driver prompt, then reboot before reconnecting the AL-1642CS.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a direct USB 2.0 port, not a hub or front-panel port. Power on the AL-1642CS when setup prompts. Check Device Manager for unknown devices or missing Sharp printer/scanner entries; reinstall the USB/chipset driver if needed.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove previous Sharp AL-series printer and WIA/TWAIN scanner drivers via Print Management and Programs, reboot, then install one package matching Windows version and bitness. Avoid mixing universal and model-specific Sharp drivers.
