Question 1

Install fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Run the SecuGen U20 installer as administrator and allow any driver-signing prompt. Disconnect the FRD until setup finishes, then reconnect and reboot. Remove older SecuGen packages first if setup reports an existing installation.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Connect the U20 directly to a rear USB port, not a hub. In Device Manager, check under Biometric devices or USB controllers, then scan for hardware changes. Try a known-good USB cable and another PC to rule out the reader.

Question 3

Driver/SDK version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older SecuGen drivers and SDKs, remove the device and its driver in Device Manager, reboot, then install the current U20 driver. Ensure your fingerprint application uses a compatible SecuGen SDK version.
