Name: Seagate ST500DM002 Driver
Author: Seagate

Question 1

Install fails or drive missing in Windows Setup?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the ST500DM002 appears in BIOS/UEFI. Match SATA mode (AHCI/IDE/RAID) to the installer, load the motherboard’s SATA/RAID driver if needed, and try another SATA port/cable.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Reseat the SATA data and power cables; test a different port and cable. If BIOS sees the drive but Windows doesn’t, check Disk Management and initialize/format it.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Do not install a generic “Seagate driver”—this HDD uses the motherboard chipset/SATA driver. Remove conflicting Intel RST/RAID packages, install the correct chipset AHCI driver, and update firmware only via Seagate’s tool for the exact model.
