Name: Seagate ST2000DL003 9VT166 ATA Device Driver
Author: Seagate

Question 1

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check SATA data and power cables, confirm the ST2000DL003 appears in BIOS, then look in Disk Management. Initialize/format only if the drive is new; if it shows RAW or disappears, test it with SeaTools.

Question 2

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

This internal ATA/SATA HDD uses the motherboard’s AHCI/chipset driver, not a separate Seagate Windows driver. Install the correct Intel/AMD SATA controller driver instead of forcing a generic ATA driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Mismatched Intel RST/AMD RAID/AHCI drivers can cause missing-drive errors or BSODs. Roll back or clean-install the storage controller driver, switch BIOS to AHCI if appropriate, and update the chipset driver.
