Question 1

Driver install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the Schiit Gen 3 USB installer as administrator, temporarily pause antivirus, disconnect the DAC during install, reboot, then reconnect the USB cable.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a known data-capable USB cable and a direct rear motherboard port—avoid hubs and front-panel ports. Check Device Manager for “Schiit USB Audio” or an unknown USB device, then reinstall the driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts / no sound after update?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Schiit or C-Media USB Audio drivers, remove hidden audio devices in Device Manager, reboot, and install the latest Gen 3 driver. Confirm Windows Sound settings use the correct sample rate and the Schiit device as default output.
