Question 1

Driver install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall existing AMD/Windows display drivers with DDU in Safe Mode, reboot, then install the correct legacy Catalyst package for the HD 6950 as administrator.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Reseat the card, connect both PCIe power connectors firmly, confirm the card is set as primary in BIOS/UEFI, and test another PCIe slot or sufficient PSU.

Question 3

Version conflicts with newer AMD drivers?

Accepted Answer

Don’t install current Adrenalin releases—they don’t support HD 6000 series. Use a matching legacy Catalyst driver and stop Windows Update from replacing it automatically.
