Question 1

Install fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

The Sansa m250 normally uses Windows’ built-in USB Mass Storage/MTP drivers, so avoid forcing an older SanDisk installer. Run setup as administrator, reboot, then reconnect the player directly to a rear USB 2.0 port.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Try a different USB cable/port and bypass hubs. On the m250, confirm the USB mode matches the task—Mass Storage for file transfer, MTP for media sync—then recheck Device Manager for “Sansa m250” or an unknown portable device.

Question 3

Version/driver conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall stale SanDisk or WMP-related entries in Device Manager (Portable Devices/Universal Serial Bus controllers), unplug the player, and let Windows reinstall the native driver. Avoid mixing old firmware/updater drivers with current Windows.
