Name: SanDisk Sansa e260 Driver
Author: SanDisk

Question 1

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the Sansa e260’s USB mode in Settings > USB Mode. Use MSC for direct file access or MTP for Windows Media Player sync. Try a different USB port/cable, avoid unpowered hubs, and check Device Manager for an unknown device.

Question 2

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the player, uninstall any “Unknown Device” or portable-device entry in Device Manager, reboot, then reconnect and let Windows install the built-in driver. If using a SanDisk installer, run it as administrator.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove older SanDisk utilities and stale Windows Portable Devices drivers, reboot, then reconnect. On Windows 10/11, prefer the inbox MTP/MSC driver over legacy downloads.
