Question 1

Install fails?

Accepted Answer

Run the Saitek R440 installer as administrator and try Windows 7/8 compatibility mode. Keep the wheel disconnected until the installer prompts, then plug it into a rear USB port.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Avoid unpowered USB hubs. Check Device Manager for “HID-compliant game controller” or unknown devices; uninstall the entry, reconnect the wheel, and rescan for hardware changes.

Question 3

Version conflicts / no force feedback?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall old Saitek software and stale HID/game-controller entries in Device Manager, reboot, then install only one R440 driver package. Prevent Windows Update from replacing it with a generic HID driver.
