Question 1

Installer fails or hangs?

Accepted Answer

Close Saitek/Mad Catz software, unplug both X55 USB leads, run the driver installer as administrator, and temporarily pause antivirus. Reboot before retrying.

Question 2

Stick or throttle not detected?

Accepted Answer

Connect both X55 USB plugs directly to powered USB 2.0 ports (avoid unpowered hubs/USB 3.0). In Device Manager, uninstall the affected HID/game controller entry, then rescan and recalibrate in Windows Game Controllers.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove older Saitek/Mad Catz software and any existing X55 driver, delete the device driver in Device Manager, reboot, then install one compatible package only. Don’t mix SmartTechnology versions; recalibrate after install.
