Name: S3 Trio32 64 Driver
Author: S3

Question 1

Installer fails or is blocked on modern Windows?

Accepted Answer

S3 Trio32/64 drivers are legacy packages. Run setup as Administrator in Windows 95/98 compatibility mode, or install manually via Device Manager > Update driver > Browse and select the INF. Only disable driver signature enforcement if using unsigned legacy files.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Reseat the PCI card, check BIOS for “Assign IRQ to VGA” and PCI/VGA palette snoop, and confirm the card is enabled. Try another PCI slot; disable onboard video if present.

Question 3

Version or resource conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove other S3/generic VGA drivers first, then check Device Manager for IRQ/I/O conflicts. Use the Trio32/64 driver matching your OS; avoid mixing Trio64V+ or newer S3 packages.
